Ranikot Fort is a historical Talpur fort near Sann, Jamshoro District, Sindh, Pakistan. Ranikot Fort is also known as The Great Wall of Sindh and is believed to be the world’s largest fort, with a circumference of approximately 32 kilometres. The fort’s ramparts have been compared to that of the Great Wall of China.
Ranikort Fort is quite famous among individuals who travel to historical places, moreover the fort attracts visitors from around the world.
The fort is huge, connecting several bleak mountains of the Kirthar hills along contours, and measures 31 kilometres (19 mi) in length. The fort's wall is interspersed with several bastions, and three are of semi-circular shape. The northern part of the fort's perimeter is a natural high hilly formation while on the other three sides it is covered by fort walls. Within this main fort there is a smaller fort known as the "Miri Fort" which is about 3 km from the Sann gate, and is reported to have served as the palace of the Mir royal family. The entire fort structure has been built with stone and lime mortar. The fort is built in a zig-zag form, with four entry gates in the shape of a rhomboid. The four gates are namely: Sann Gate, Amri Gate, Shah-Pere Gate and Mohan Gate. Two of the gates, facing each are crossed diagonally by the Sann river; the first gate is on the western side and is skirted by the river water and is difficult to approach. The southern entry gate has a double doors gate. Within the gates there are two niches which have floral ornamentation and carved stones.
The Pakistan National Commission proposed the site for UNESCO World Heritage designation in 1993, and it has been on the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since then. Under the Antiquities Act of 1975 and its subsequent amendments, the fort is designated as a historical site and is protected. Families can visit here for educational trip and look around the area by themselves or hire a tour guide. Good for both demographic to visit and look around the area.
رانی کوٹ قلعہ
قلعہ رنی کوٹ ایک تاریخی تالپور قلعہ ہے جو سان، جامشورو ضلع، سندھ، پاکستان کے قریب ہے۔ رنی کوٹ قلعہ سندھ کی عظیم دیوار کے نام سے بھی جانا جاتا ہے اور اسے دنیا کا سب سے بڑا قلعہ مانا جاتا ہے، جس کا طواف تقریباً 32 کلومیٹر ہے۔ قلعے کی فصیلوں کا موازنہ چین کی عظیم دیوار سے کیا گیا ہے۔
رانیکورٹ قلعہ ان لوگوں میں کافی مشہور ہے جو تاریخی مقامات کی سیر کرتے ہیں، اس کے علاوہ یہ قلعہ دنیا بھر سے سیاحوں کو اپنی طرف متوجہ کرتا ہے۔یہ قلعہ بہت بڑا ہے، جو کیرتھر پہاڑیوں کے کئی تاریک پہاڑوں کو شکلوں کے ساتھ جوڑتا ہے، اور اس کی لمبائی 31 کلومیٹر (19 میل) ہے۔ قلعہ کی دیوار کئی گڑھوں سے جڑی ہوئی ہے، اور تین نیم گول شکل کی ہیں۔ قلعہ کے دائرے کا شمالی حصہ ایک قدرتی اونچی پہاڑی شکل ہے جبکہ باقی تین اطراف قلعے کی دیواروں سے ڈھکی ہوئی ہے۔ اس مرکزی قلعے کے اندر ایک چھوٹا قلعہ ہے جسے "میری قلعہ" کے نام سے جانا جاتا ہے جو سان دروازے سے تقریباً 3 کلومیٹر کے فاصلے پر ہے، اور بتایا جاتا ہے کہ یہ میر شاہی خاندان کے محل کے طور پر کام کرتا تھا۔ قلعہ کا پورا ڈھانچہ پتھر اور چونے کے مارٹر سے بنایا گیا ہے۔ قلعہ زِگ زگ شکل میں بنایا گیا ہے، جس میں چار داخلی دروازے رومبائڈ کی شکل میں ہیں۔ چار دروازے نام ہیں: سان گیٹ، امری گیٹ، شاہ پیرے گیٹ اور موہن گیٹ۔ دروازوں میں سے دو، ہر ایک کا سامنا دریائے سین سے ترچھی طور پر کراس کیا جاتا ہے۔ پہلا دروازہ مغربی جانب ہے اور دریا کے پانی کی طرف سے گھیر لیا گیا ہے اور اس تک پہنچنا مشکل ہے۔ جنوبی داخلی دروازے پر دوہرے دروازے والا گیٹ ہے۔ دروازوں کے اندر دو طاق ہیں جن میں پھولوں کی آرائش اور پتھر تراشے گئے ہیں۔
پاکستان نیشنل کمیشن نے 1993 میں اس جگہ کو یونیسکو کے عالمی ثقافتی ورثے کی فہرست میں شامل کرنے کی تجویز پیش کی، اور یہ تب سے یونیسکو کے عالمی ثقافتی ورثے کی فہرست میں شامل ہے۔ 1975 کے نوادرات ایکٹ اور اس کے بعد کی ترامیم کے تحت، قلعہ کو ایک تاریخی مقام کے طور پر نامزد کیا گیا ہے اور اس کی حفاظت کی گئی ہے۔ اہل خانہ تعلیمی سفر کے لیے یہاں تشریف لا سکتے ہیں اور خود علاقے کا جائزہ لے سکتے ہیں یا ٹور گائیڈ کی خدمات حاصل کر سکتے ہیں
